Most people there are waiting for court action rather than serving a long state sentence. That role shapes the meaning of a Jennifer Road release. Jennifer Road Release Records
AACDDF, not the Anne Arundel County Sheriff, is the first custodian for a JRDC admission and discharge. The Sheriff performs court security, warrant, service, and app functions, but it does not operate the county detention facilities. A request sent to a generic “sheriff’s jail” may reach the wrong office. Use the county Public Information Act portal and select the category for detention booking photos, inmate records, and visitation records.

A former inmate may request their own institutional file in writing to the correctional facility administrator, subject to protected portions. AACDDF policy permits a $1-per-page copy charge for that file route. Medical, addiction, mental-health, security, victim, and other restricted information are not transformed into public release data merely because the person left custody.

For the legal order behind a release, use the court that handled the case. Circuit Court criminal records are maintained in Annapolis, while District Court matters may arise in Annapolis or Glen Burnie. Court clerks can supply accessible files, but a docket timestamp should not be recast as the facility’s gate time. The detention record remains the better proof of physical discharge.
Jennifer Road Release Timing
Anne Arundel publishes a useful distinction between a court decision and facility processing. The AACDDF FAQ says court documents generally arrive after the court day, sometime after 4:00 p.m. Release preparation then takes about two to six hours. Admissions, other discharges, identity checks, warrants, and additional holds can affect the interval. No official exit door, waiting point, or weekend schedule is published, so call the facility before arranging a pickup.
Bail is not paid to JRDC. During business hours, payment is handled through the District or Circuit Court clerk. After hours, the Commissioner’s Office is the proper channel. This matters because AACDDF has warned about callers who pose as detention supervisors and demand money for early release or an ankle monitor. Verify any demand by calling an official number independently. Personal booking details do not make an unsolicited payment request genuine.
Jennifer Road Pretrial Release
All initial Pretrial Supervised Release intake takes place at 131 Jennifer Road on weekdays at 8:30 a.m. The program can range from automated telephone reporting to in-person checks and house arrest. A participant has left the detention cell but remains subject to court conditions. That status should be described as supervised pretrial release, not as completion of the criminal case or sentence.
CHP, located next door at the Jennifer Road complex, can also explain a very short county record. After Jennifer Road Release
A person entering the community may leave with bail terms, court-ordered reporting, probation, parole, or another form of supervision. The county record can establish the JRDC exit, while the court and supervising agency establish the next legal status. Maryland has no public statewide name-searchable probation or parole roster. AACDDF also publishes practical release facts. An indigent person may request a local transit token during normal operating hours and may obtain telephone access for collect calls. This is not a guaranteed ride. An account balance, less allowed charges for lost or destroyed property, is returned by Debit Release Card. If the person transfers to another jurisdiction, the funds are processed by check request instead. These operational clues can help distinguish a community exit from a custodial handoff.
