Maryland VINE through VINELink is a free, confidential notification service. Maryland materials describe custody, court-case, protective-order, probation, and parole status information across participating stages. For an Anne Arundel County record, it can report the status, housing location, and release date presented by the participating source. It can also send alerts about release, escape, transfer, and probation or parole changes.
Coverage is broad but not universal. A Jennifer Road Detention Center registration belongs to the county custody record. If that person transfers to a Maryland prison, the user should find and register for the new DOC record. A later move into probation or parole may require another registration. Maryland VINE does not cover BOP, ICE, or U.S. Marshals custody. Those systems require their own official channels.
The Anne Arundel Sheriff's mobile app exposes an inmate search and change-of-status notice function, and county material links it with VINELink and court information. The app does not establish a separate recent-release list or durable archive. Use it as another entry point to the tracked status, then identify which agency supplied the record. AACDDF, not the Sheriff's Office, is the primary custodian for Jennifer Road and Ordnance Road admission and discharge information.

Search variations matter. Middle names, suffixes, hyphens, aliases, and reversed first and last names can change results. If a name search returns no record, try the known JID or DOC identifier and verify the spelling against the court case. Do not select a record just because the age or name seems close. A wrong registration can produce notices about another person and obscure the event that actually matters.

A county locator no-result plus a VINE transfer is strong evidence that the Anne Arundel record moved, not that custody ended. A VINE release alert tied to the right record is useful corroboration. The AACDDF discharge record remains the best source for the physical exit from county custody.
Different statuses require different follow-up. “Released” from an Anne Arundel County custody record can still mean a handoff if the receiving authority appears elsewhere. A location change points toward transfer. A probation or parole event concerns community supervision, not the original jail gate. If the person remains on the county locator after a court release order, facility processing or another hold may still be active. Registration begins on the correct in-custody record. Maryland VINE offers phone, email, text, TTY, and app channels as available. More than one phone number or email may be registered. A phone registration uses a four-digit PIN so the service can confirm that the call was received. Email does not use the phone PIN.
- Open the matched record and select the registration option.
- Choose the available notification methods and enter current contact details.
- For telephone notices, create and keep the four-digit PIN.
- When VINE calls, listen and enter the PIN followed by the pound sign, as the detailed Maryland brochure directs.
- If a call is missed, expect repeat attempts, but do not rely on one fixed repeat period.
- Call the service and press zero for a representative if the PIN is forgotten.
- Update changed contact details and re-register after a custody-stage move.
The current Maryland brochure says repeat calls can continue for at least a day or until acknowledgment, while older material stated a longer window. That difference is why no exact repeat duration should be promised. A release plan should never depend only on an automated alert.
Acknowledging a telephone alert stops repeat calls for that notice; it does not cancel later events or prove the person reached the community. Email notices do not require the phone PIN. TTY users can call 1-866-847-1298, and the main Maryland VINE line can connect a caller with a representative. When more than one person needs notice, each should register through the methods available to them rather than share a PIN or rely on forwarded messages.
Anne Arundel Local Release Notice
Anne Arundel County has a direct local victim-notification protocol in addition to Maryland VINE. The AACDDF detention FAQ says registered victims are contacted about court activity and release. Procedures differ for sentenced and pretrial people. This is a protected notification route, not a general-public release roster.
The local route should not be confused with the county escape-alert list or the Sheriff's app. Each has a different purpose. Eligible users should follow AACDDF instructions for the local protocol and separately register for the exact VINE record. Maryland's materials expressly warn that registration must be renewed as the person moves among county detention, state prison, court, probation, and parole stages.
Pretrial and sentenced cases follow different local procedures. A pretrial person may leave after bail or a court order while the criminal case continues. A sentenced person may complete county time or move to another authority. VINE can report the custody event, but AACDDF policy defines what detained/released status, manner, and discharge-date information may be available to the public. The local protocol and the public record should never be described as the same service.
Anne Arundel Release System Handoffs
Jennifer Road Detention Center and Ordnance Road Correctional Center are county facilities run by AACDDF. The Maryland Division of Correction runs state prisons. A county-to-state move ends the county facility stay but continues confinement. Search the DPSCS locator to test current covered DOC custody, then find the state VINE record. The county registration should not be expected to follow the person.
If both the Anne Arundel and DPSCS locators return no result, check the court and VINE status before drawing a conclusion. The state locator expressly excludes people no longer in custody, including those released or escaped. Neither locator keeps a durable released-person result. Confirm Anne Arundel VINELink Results
VINE data may lag an operational event, and a record can stop being searchable. Never translate absence into release. Test the Anne Arundel current locator, then call AACDDF at 410-222-7374 and ask what detained/released status, manner of release, or discharge date is publicly available. Read the Maryland court case for the order that authorized release, while remembering that court action can precede physical processing.
A BOP record needs the BOP locator. An immigration detention event needs ICE ODLS, which has a limited post-release window. U.S. Marshals pretrial custody has no public person-by-person release locator. Maryland VINE does not bridge those gaps. If an Anne Arundel County person left AACDDF for ICE or federal authority, the VINE county event can mark a handoff without proving release to the community.
Court data are a second check. The Maryland Case Search and Record Portal can show bail, disposition, sentence, probation, violation, and modification entries. It is a summary, and a court order can precede the actual custody exit. The clerk's full file may contain the order that is not reproduced online.
